Zeus the Malamute

Hi, my name is Zeus. Am I handsome or what?

My mom called the nice people at Harnessed to Hope because she needed help with some of my behavior problems. I had gotten into the habit of marking on the living room rug, and wasn't listening very well. I would also growl a little at people when they tried to tell me no - just a typical teenage Malamute!

One of the great volunteers who has Malamutes and is very experienced with them talked to my mom and gave her several training suggestions for getting me to listen better. One BIG thing that they said is that I need to be neutered as soon as possible. For some reason my regular vet said it would be very expensive to neuter me now since I am a big adult boy, so the nice people at Harnessed to Hope gave my mom some information about low cost spay/neuter resources. My mom is getting a certificate to have me neutered. Since my mom has started working with me on training I am lisening much better. I have also gotten better about peeing or "marking" in the living room. They said that having me neutered will really help with that too.

Anyway, I just wanted to tell you all about how the nice volunteers on the Behavior team have helped me and my family. Thanks to them I will be able to stay in my home!

You are indeed a handsome boy, Zeus. I'm inspired by the dedication the volunteers have shown. We all have a story, and yours is particularly touching.

Dropped by from Michele's today.

Hello Zeus... Michele sent me.
I have a rescue dog here too. His name is Max and he is a cocker mix. He has lymphoma but is doing well on chemo pills for nine months now. He has had an eye infection and needs medicine but he is always hard to do eye drops and such. So we give him a little something to make him woozy and then have to muzzle him to put in the drops. I wish he could know that we are just trying to help. Other than this he is very loving, even with cats... but not birds, rabbits or possums.
